Cessnock U14 boys rep team went down to Newcastle City Rangers in the Newcastle U16 comp. The game was marked but moments of brilliance by Cessnock’s young squad, followed by periods of unfocused play that allowed City Rangers easy points.
The night’s highlight was a textbook cut by Alex Bultitude that caught all five Newcastle City players napping.
MVP Maverick Cameron led the scoring with 8, followed by Nic Allan-Ross 7, Dean Lewis 5 and William Drayton 4. The defensive all-star award goes to Nash Clarke.
The takeaway for Cessnock players is that if they remain disciplined and train hard, Newcastle City Rangers are well within their reach the next time they meet.
